You heard right. Geek is chic. But you can put away the books. There’s nothing librarian about it.
I’m thinking an Olsen with an iPad, a skinny tie and a pair of Ray-Ban Clubmasters – in black or blue. Or Tina Fey, well, just as she is (I love her). It’s not quite sandals and socks, but with the right pair of sunglasses, hey, anything’s possible.
Black heavy frames are key. And they should be just slightly too big for your face. The way to get this look right is to get it just that little bit wrong.
It doesn’t matter what clothes you like to wear – goth, hippy, preppy or a just a little bit indie – you can still rock some geek chic. Just make sure you balance it out with some code-cracking sunglasses. Like these peeps. They’re fresh off the streets and, well, I think they look totally adorkable.
My frame suggestions:
1. Ray-Ban RB3016 $194.95 | Buy Online
Ray-Ban Clubmasters – They’re my number one favourite and they’re cool enough to raise anyone’s tech IQ.
2. Ray-Ban RB2140 $194.95 | Buy Online
They’re black. They’re back. And they’re classically geeky. They’re Ray-Ban Wayfarers. They’ve even got green UV blocking lenses.
3. Versace VE4179 $190.00 | Buy Online
Find your inner geek with Versace. These frames are unisex. They’ve got clean simple lines and they’re just a little bold. You could say they’ve got a lot of nerd!
4. Burberry BE4065 $200.00 | Buy Online
I LOVE these glasses. The frames have strong lines (v. geeky) but with an unmistakably Burberry edge (v. chic-y). They’re as bookish as Keira Knightly is British!
5. Persol PO2931 $185.00 | Buy Online
With their over-sized rounded lenses, these Persol frames go way back – to the eighties that is. That’s Weird Science territory.
6. Ray-Ban RB3016 $144.95 | Buy Online
The gold detailing on these Ray-Ban Clubmasters is heavy on the chic. And the semi-rimless frames literally shriek GEEK. It’s no wonder LA is all over these.
7. Ray-Ban RB2140 $144.95 | Buy Online
This classic Wayfarer shape has been worn by geeks for centuries. Well, maybe not centuries, but whatever, I’m lovin’ Ray-Ban’s revamp in blue. I call it corporate geek.
